Coinbase to Bring Stocks, Prediction Markets to Canada in 'Everything Exchange' Push

Coinbase plans to offer stocks, cryptocurrencies, and prediction markets in Canada as part of its 'Everything Exchange' expansion. The move signals a broader ambition to become a one-stop financial platform north of the border. No launch date has been set.

Phase two in motion

The Coinbase Canada CEO confirmed that phase two of the expansion is underway. The company already offers crypto trading in the country. Now it's pushing into traditional assets and event-based contracts. The CEO didn't provide a timeline for when these new products will go live.

Stocks, crypto, and prediction markets

Canadian users will eventually be able to trade stocks alongside digital assets on the same platform. Prediction markets — where people bet on outcomes like elections or sports — are also part of the plan. That puts Coinbase in direct competition with local brokerages and newer platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, though those operate mostly in the U.S.

Why Canada

Canada has been one of the more crypto-friendly jurisdictions in North America. The country approved several Bitcoin ETFs before the U.S. and has a clear regulatory framework for exchanges. Coinbase already has a registered presence there. Expanding the product suite lets it capture more of a user's financial life without them leaving the app.

No launch date set

For now, there's no word on when the new features will actually appear. The company is still working through regulatory approvals and technical integration. The CEO's comment that phase two is 'in motion' suggests the work is active, but Canadian users will have to wait for a concrete date.
