FTX has set July 31 as the date for its fifth round of creditor payouts, a distribution worth roughly $900 million. The latest payment brings the total amount the collapsed exchange has returned to customers and other creditors past $9.7 billion, according to the company.
Over 100% recovery for some classes
Several creditor classes are now receiving more than the full value of their claims, a rare outcome in bankruptcy proceedings. The distributions reflect the recovery of assets that were frozen when FTX filed for Chapter 11 protection in November 2022.
How the payments work
The company has been processing claims in waves, with earlier rounds covering smaller claims and certain priority groups. The fifth distribution targets remaining allowed claims, including those from customers whose accounts were denominated in stablecoins or other digital assets. FTX has said it will continue to liquidate remaining holdings and make further distributions as assets are recovered.
FTX's bankruptcy estate is still pursuing recoveries from third parties and resolving contested claims. The next distribution date has not been announced, but the company has indicated it expects additional payouts as litigation and asset sales conclude.
