Amnon Shashua, the chief executive who turned Mobileye into a dominant force in autonomous driving technology, has stepped down. The company, acquired by Intel for $15.3 billion in 2017 and later relisted on Nasdaq, confirmed the leadership change.
Shashua's tenure and Intel's acquisition
Shashua co-founded Mobileye in 1999 and led it through a period of rapid growth. Intel bought the company in 2017, making it a key part of its self-driving car strategy. Mobileye was taken public again in 2022, with Intel retaining a majority stake.
What comes next
Intel has not yet named a permanent replacement for Shashua. The company said it will search for a new CEO while Shashua remains in an advisory role. Mobileye's technology is used by major automakers for driver-assistance and autonomous systems.
