Elon Musk is now worth more than Bitcoin. His net worth hit roughly $1.32 trillion this week, edging past Bitcoin’s market cap of about $1.29 trillion, according to the latest figures. The milestone comes as a brutal crypto winter dragged the total digital-asset market down to roughly $2.23 trillion from a peak near $4.21 trillion a year ago — meaning Musk’s personal fortune is larger than the combined value of every cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
The numbers gap
Bitcoin has dropped more than 50% from its late-2025 record high near $126,000. The wider crypto market has shed nearly half its value over the same stretch. Musk, meanwhile, got a massive boost from SpaceX. The company went public at $135 per share and now trades above $200 on Nasdaq under the ticker SPCX — a rally of more than 50%. That pushed SpaceX’s market value to about $2.7 trillion, making it the biggest single driver of Musk’s wealth.
SpaceX retail frenzy
South Korean retail investors piled into SpaceX on its first trading day, buying about $795.9 million worth of shares. The appetite didn't stop there. Volume across two SpaceX-focused ETFs topped $3 billion. One product, SPCH, logged about $1.3 billion in second-day volume — the highest single-day ETF volume on record. The frenzy underscores how much retail demand exists for the space giant, and how heavily Musk’s net worth now depends on a single stock.
Crypto’s rough year
The timing isn't great for crypto loyalists. A year ago, Bitcoin alone was worth more than Musk’s entire empire. Now the roles are reversed, and Musk’s fortune even exceeds the combined value of the rest of the crypto market — all coins, tokens, and stablecoins outside Bitcoin. That gap could widen or narrow depending on where Bitcoin finds a floor, but for now, the world’s richest person is richer than the world’s biggest digital asset.
SpaceX continues to trade under SPCX, and Musk’s net worth will move with its stock. Bitcoin remains down sharply from its highs, with no clear catalyst in sight to reverse the slide.
