Quantum Solutions Raises Ether Sale Cap to 4,375 ETH as AI Data-Center Costs Bite

Japan-listed Quantum Solutions has expanded the amount of Ether its group may sell through October 30, 2026, lifting the cap from 1,875 ETH to 4,375 ETH. The move follows a 1,000 ETH sale by subsidiary GPT Pals Studio to help fund an AI data-center push. The company now faces a roughly JPY 17 million loss on the latest sale and a gap between remaining sale authority and unpledged Ether holdings.

Why the cap was raised

GPT Pals Studio sold 1,000 ETH on June 16, bringing total sales under the policy to 1,904 ETH. The subsidiary received $1.903 million in aggregate proceeds, net of fees, at $1,903 per ETH. The money is earmarked for the AI data-center buildout, a priority for the group. Quantum said the higher maximum was not a decision to sell the entire amount immediately; further sales depend on market conditions, ETH prices, AI data center progress, and funding needs.

The financial hit

Because the sale price of $1,903 per ETH fell below the May 31 carrying value of $2,003.97 per ETH, Quantum expects a loss of roughly JPY 17 million. That's a hit the company is willing to take to keep its AI infrastructure plans moving. The loss underscores the volatility of using cryptocurrency to fund capital-intensive projects.

The Ether balance and the pledge puzzle

After the sale, Quantum reported holdings of 4,764.8 ETH. Of that, 3,050 ETH is pledged to a Singapore-based lender, leaving 1,714.8 ETH outside the pledge. The remaining sale authority stands at 2,471 ETH — but that's 756.2 ETH more than the unpledged balance. That means fully using the authority would require releasing some pledged Ether, a step Quantum hasn't detailed.

What Quantum says about future sales

Quantum explicitly said the higher maximum doesn't mean it will sell all 4,375 ETH. The company will decide based on market conditions, ETH prices, AI data center progress, and funding needs. The 756.2 ETH gap between remaining authority and unpledged holdings suggests any further large sale would involve negotiations with the lender.

The loan to Compass Cloud AI Japan

Quantum also disclosed a $1.5 million unsecured, interest-free loan to Compass Cloud AI Japan. Part of that loan helped finance a $1,202,864 data-center deposit. The loan ties directly to the AI data-center push that's driving the Ether sales.

Quantum's next moves will depend on how the AI data center progresses and where Ether prices go. The company hasn't set a date for its next sale.
