Strategy, the software company formerly known as MicroStrategy, has cut its net leverage to near zero. The firm now holds cash equal to the value of its convertible debt, meaning it owes no net debt on those notes. The move strips away a layer of financial risk and leaves the company free to keep its focus on Bitcoin.
Cash matches the debt
In a clean balance-sheet reset, Strategy now holds cash that fully covers its convertible notes. That puts net leverage at effectively zero. For a company that has built its treasury around Bitcoin, carrying no net debt against it is a notable shift from the borrowing-fueled buying of the past.
Stability first
The reduced leverage does more than tidy up the books. It removes the danger of a forced sell-off if Bitcoin's price takes a hit. With no debt to service or repay, the company won't be pushed into a position where it has to liquidate assets at a bad time. That's a meaningful layer of protection for shareholders.
Bitcoin without the burden
For Strategy, the real value is the ability to focus on Bitcoin's upside without worrying about debt obligations. The company's core conviction is that Bitcoin is a superior store of value, and this move removes a distraction that could have complicated that thesis. With leverage near zero, the path ahead is simpler: hold Bitcoin, and let it do the work.
