Strategy to Deposit $250 Annually Into Trump Accounts for Employees' Children

Strategy (Nasdaq: MSTR) will contribute $250 each year into a Trump Account for every eligible child under 18 of its U.S. employees. For children born on or after January 1, 2025, the company will also make a one-time $1,000 contribution, matching the federal seed deposit. The move makes Strategy one of the first major employers to voluntarily participate in the new 530A savings program.

How the Trump Accounts work

The Trump Account is a tax-advantaged investment account for children, created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed by President Trump in 2025. The program launched July 4, 2026, with the government depositing $1,000 into accounts for over 500,000 children. Families can contribute up to $5,000 per year. Funds are locked until age 18, when the account converts to a traditional individual retirement account. President Trump has said that Bitcoin could one day play a role in the savings program.

Why Strategy is joining

Strategy signed on to the Invest America Business Pledge, a White House-backed initiative encouraging companies to support the new accounts. CEO Phong Le said the Trump Accounts can encourage financial education, long-term thinking, and a culture of saving and investing. For a company that holds bitcoin on its balance sheet, the move aligns with a broader push to tie digital assets to mainstream savings vehicles.

Eligible children are those under 18 who are U.S. citizens. The $250 annual contribution applies to each qualifying child. For children born after January 1, 2025, Strategy adds a one-time $1,000 deposit, matching the federal seed. That covers children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028 — the window for the government's initial deposit. The company's contributions are separate from the federal seed and family contributions, effectively giving some children a $2,000 starting balance.

The Trump Account program is just over a month old. Strategy's participation could nudge other employers to follow, especially those with a crypto bent. President Trump's hint that Bitcoin might eventually be integrated into the accounts gives the program a potential digital-asset angle — and Strategy, as a bitcoin treasury company, is already positioned at that intersection. For now, the accounts hold only traditional assets, but the door is open.
