Trump Media Launches Paid Truth Social Data Feed for Financial Firms

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is rolling out a paid data service that gives financial firms real-time access to posts from top Truth Social accounts. The product, called Truth API, is designed for traders, newsrooms, and other organizations that track public sentiment and breaking news on the platform.

What Truth API offers

The service provides licensed, real-time access to posts from the platform's most-followed accounts. TMTG is pitching it as a tool for financial firms that want to monitor what influential users are saying — the kind of chatter that can move markets or signal emerging trends. Newsrooms, too, are a target audience, though the company hasn't disclosed pricing or specific subscriber numbers.

Truth Social launched in early 2022 as a conservative alternative to mainstream social networks. It has since attracted a loyal user base, including former President Donald Trump, who uses it as his primary megaphone. The platform's top accounts often break political news and commentary that ripples into financial media.

Why financial firms want social media data

Wall Street has long paid for access to social media firehoses. Firms use tools like Bloomberg Terminal or Dataminr to scan Twitter, Reddit, and other platforms for early signals. A sudden spike in mentions of a stock, a viral rumor, or a politician's offhand remark can trigger trades within seconds.

Truth Social's audience overlaps heavily with retail investors who follow political and economic news. By offering a dedicated API, TMTG is trying to capture a slice of the data-licensing market that rivals like X (formerly Twitter) already dominate. The move also gives the company a new revenue stream beyond advertising and its streaming service, Truth+.

TMTG's broader strategy

Truth API is the latest in a series of commercial pushes by TMTG. The company went public in March 2024 through a merger with a special-purpose acquisition company, raising hundreds of millions of dollars. Since then, it has expanded Truth Social's features and launched a video-on-demand platform.

But the company has yet to turn a profit. In its most recent quarterly filing, TMTG reported a net loss of $16.4 million on revenue of $1.1 million. The Truth API could help narrow that gap if enough financial firms sign up. TMTG hasn't said whether the service will be available to individual developers or only to institutional clients.

The service is live now, according to the company. No word yet on which firms have subscribed or how much they're paying.
