Alfakraft Fonder Teams With Bitwise on Regulated Crypto Products for European Institutions

Swedish asset manager Alfakraft Fonder AB has partnered with Bitwise Asset Management to develop regulated digital asset products aimed at European institutional investors. The announcement was published by Crypto Briefing. The move signals growing demand from pension funds and insurance companies in Europe for crypto exposure through familiar, regulated vehicles.

What the partnership covers

Alfakraft Fonder and Bitwise will work together to create products that comply with European securities laws. Bitwise brings its track record in managing crypto index funds and ETFs in the US, while Alfakraft provides local distribution and regulatory know-how. The products are expected to target institutions that have been cautious about direct crypto investments due to custody and compliance concerns.

European institutional investors have been slower than their US counterparts to allocate to digital assets, partly because of a lack of regulated products. This partnership aims to fill that gap. Alfakraft Fonder, based in Sweden, already manages funds in traditional assets and sees crypto as a natural extension. Bitwise, which launched one of the first crypto index funds in the US, brings product design experience.

What comes next

The firms haven't disclosed a timeline for the first product launch. But the partnership is structured to move through the regulatory process in Europe, likely under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. Both sides are expected to file for approval with relevant national regulators. The deal is the latest in a string of partnerships between European asset managers and US crypto specialists.
