AllianceBernstein Cuts Strategy Price Target to $350, Keeps $300K Bitcoin Call

AllianceBernstein cut its price target on Strategy (NYSE: MSTR) to $350 this week, pulling the stock lower even as the firm kept its long-term Bitcoin forecast at $300,000. The move reflects what the asset manager sees as the growing friction between Strategy's Bitcoin ambitions and the cost of financing them.

The new target

The $350 target is a haircut, though AllianceBernstein didn't frame it as a knock on Bitcoin. The firm still expects the world's largest cryptocurrency to trade at $300,000 — it just thinks the equity that holds it won't climb as easily.

Equity dilution and interest rates are the two forces AllianceBernstein points to. Strategy's habit of issuing shares to buy more Bitcoin means every new purchase spreads the existing holders' stake thinner. At the same time, a higher-rate environment makes the carry on that strategy more expensive.

Dilution, rates, and the Bitcoin balance sheet

The move isn't a comment on Bitcoin's price. It's a comment on the structure that Strategy uses to get to it. Each dilution round lowers the value of the stock per share even when the underlying asset is moving higher.

AllianceBernstein's revision reads like a warning that the dilution is catching up. The firm still sees a $300,000 outcome for Bitcoin, but it's no longer willing to pay as much for the company that's stacking it.

The $300,000 call

Keep that number in the headline: $300,000. It's the same target AllianceBernstein has had for Bitcoin, and it didn't move when the price target on Strategy came down.

That split matters. It tells you the firm thinks Bitcoin is the right asset to own over the cycle, but that Strategy's equity is no longer the cleanest way to hold it.

The next meaningful data point is the company's next share issuance and the interest rate picture. If rates stay elevated, dilution becomes the default lever Strategy has — and the market has to decide if it likes that trade.

AllianceBernstein's $350 target is that decision made in advance: the stock can still go up, just not as far.
