Financial analyst Andrey Poroshin is calling for Bitcoin to slide to $60,000 this month before bouncing back to $70,000. Even that rebound, he says, would leave the price below the base cost of mining a single Bitcoin in the United States.
The August outlook
Poroshin's forecast, shared on August 2, 2026, sees Bitcoin dropping to $60,000 during August, then recovering to $70,000. That's a roughly 14% swing from current levels if the low hits. The prediction doesn't specify a catalyst for the dip or the rebound, but it lays out a clear range for traders to watch this month.
Mining cost concerns
The more striking part of the call is the comparison to mining economics. Poroshin notes that $70,000 is still below the base cost of mining in the U.S. That means even after a recovery, many American miners would be operating at a loss on each coin they produce. The base cost typically includes electricity, hardware, and operational expenses. When the market price sits below that line, miners face pressure to cut costs or sell reserves.
If Poroshin's scenario plays out, the mining sector could see a tough stretch. Publicly listed miners with high debt loads might be the most exposed. The prediction doesn't say how long prices would stay below the cost threshold, but a sustained gap could force consolidation or shutdowns. For now, it's one analyst's view — but it adds a concrete number to the debate about Bitcoin's near-term direction.
