Arbitrum Whales Trim ARB Ahead of $7.4M Token Unlock

Arbitrum Whales Trim ARB Ahead of $7.4M Token Unlock

Arbitrum is set to unlock 92.65 million ARB tokens on August 15, worth roughly $7.4 million at current prices. The release, which represents about 1.4% of circulating supply, goes to the team, contributors and investors. It lands as whales quietly reduce their exposure.

Whales trim ARB ahead of the unlock

Between August 3 and August 10, wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million ARB cut their share of the supply from 32.15% to 31.74%. That's a small but telling shift — distribution ahead of a scheduled event. The unlock itself is modest, but the timing matters.

There's a longer-term tailwind, though. Robinhood built its new chain on Arbitrum technology and routes 8% of net revenue to the Arbitrum treasury. That gives the network a recurring income stream that didn't exist before, which could offset some of the selling pressure from the unlock.

Hyperliquid's fee engine cools

Hyperliquid's token is up about 5% this week, but it's still down nearly 18% from a month ago. The network booked $9.37 million in fees and $6.44 million in protocol revenue over the past seven days, on $38.9 billion in trading volume. Annualized, that's roughly $1 billion in fees.

The catch: weekly fees have cooled from the 30-day pace. Hyperliquid uses most of its revenue for buybacks and burns, so the token's support depends on sustained trading activity. If volume keeps sliding, the buyback engine loses fuel.

TRON's mandatory upgrade lands by Sunday

TRON faces a mandatory network upgrade by August 16. The Pyrrho v4.8.2 update improves Ethereum compatibility and node reliability. That matters because TRON holds about $91.7 billion in USDT — roughly half of all USDT in circulation. Any hiccup during the upgrade could ripple through stablecoin markets.

TRON's chain fees are up about 4.5% this week, with roughly 4 million daily active addresses. TRX is holding near $0.33. But the chain's total value locked slipped 0.6%, a sign that settlement activity is strong while broader DeFi growth remains flat.

The ARB unlock lands Saturday. TRON's upgrade is due by Sunday. Both events are scheduled, but in crypto, scheduled doesn't always mean smooth.
