Arcus Launches Tokenized Perpetual Positions on Robinhood Chain

Arcus has launched tokenized perpetual positions on Robinhood Chain. Open trades now exist as ERC-20 tokens, transferable like any other token on the chain. The setup lets traders use tokenized stocks to back leveraged perpetual positions without selling their holdings first.

The token as the position

Each perpetual position becomes an ERC-20 token. That's the standard format for Ethereum-compatible chains, meaning the position can be moved between wallets, plugged into on-chain tools, or held on its own. The terms of the perpetual trade stay attached to the token itself.

This is a shift from how perpetual positions usually work. Normally they're locked inside a trading platform. Here the position is an asset that can travel.

Collateral that doesn't force a sale

Leveraged trades typically need collateral in the form of stablecoins or other liquid assets. If a trader holds stock, they'd often have to sell it to free up margin. Arcus's design changes that. Tokenized stocks can be used as collateral directly, so the stock remains in the trader's wallet while it backs the leveraged position.

That avoids the forced sale. It also means a trader doesn't have to time the market or give up a stock position just to open leverage.

What transferability changes

Because the positions are ERC-20 tokens, they can be transferred to another wallet, integrated into other protocols, or simply held. That's not typical for perpetuals, which are normally platform-bound. Here, the position has a life of its own on-chain.

The practical effect is that a leveraged trade no longer has to sit inside one exchange. A trader can take the tokenized position elsewhere, or pass it along, without having to close the trade first.

The launch is live on Robinhood Chain, with the positions available as transferable tokens. How quickly the format catches on will show whether traders actually want their leverage to be that portable.
