Aster DEX Redirects 99% of Fees to Buybacks, ASTER Jumps Over 10%

Aster DEX announced a tokenomics overhaul Thursday that will funnel 99% of daily platform fees into automatic buybacks of its ASTER token. The move sent ASTER up more than 10% on the day, breaking a short-term downtrend that had kept the token below $0.70 in recent weeks.

How the new model works

Under the upgrade, Aster executes TWAP buybacks throughout each day, settling them on-chain to a public wallet. For every token repurchased, an equal amount is permanently burned from reserves, starting with team allocations. The bought-back tokens then flow into a Loyalty Rewards pool, stacked atop the existing 300,000 $ASTER base pool. Distributions are proportional to veASTER lock weight. The protocol has already completed over $214 million in cumulative buybacks, reclaiming more than 143.38 million ASTER — 7.11% of supply — in under a month.

Market reaction and resistance

ASTER had been trading below $0.70 after a brief spike to $0.76 months ago that failed to hold. The announcement sparked a 12% rally in less than two hours, but resistance near $0.75 rejected the price twice. Support sits at the $0.63 demand zone, with the 30-period moving average near $0.65 acting as a short-term floor. RSI reads near 61, signaling moderate bullish momentum. The article suggests daily buybacks of $2–3 million could compress supply and absorb unlock pressure from the airdrop wallet, potentially clearing $1 and opening a path toward $1.50 if conditions align.

Bitcoin Hyper presale gains traction

Separately, Bitcoin Hyper, a Bitcoin Layer 2 presale building with Solana Virtual Machine integration for sub-second finality, has crossed $32.8 million raised. The presale price sits at $0.0136, with staking offering high APY for early lockers. Its Decentralized Canonical Bridge handles native BTC transfers without custodial wrapping, a feature that’s drawing attention as institutional capital rotates toward on-chain derivatives infrastructure — a trend that has also drawn comparisons between Aster and Hyperliquid.

Whether Aster’s buyback momentum can push ASTER past the $0.75 resistance wall will determine the next leg. The upgrade is expected to take effect soon, and all eyes are on whether the burn can keep pace with unlock pressure from the airdrop wallet.
