Aster’s 99% Fee Buyback Fails to Lift ASTER Above $0.60

Aster’s 99% Fee Buyback Fails to Lift ASTER Above $0.60

Aster’s aggressive token buyback program — which uses 99% of network fees to repurchase ASTER — has so far failed to push the token above $0.60. The project has bought back 5.3 million ASTER since late June, but the price response has been muted.

The buyback math

Under the program, nearly all fees generated on the Aster network are used to buy ASTER from the open market. Since late June, that has meant 5.3 million tokens repurchased. The idea is to create consistent demand and reduce circulating supply. But the numbers haven’t translated into a price breakout.

Why the price isn’t moving

Weak trading volume and negative money flow have limited the buyback’s impact. Even with the steady repurchases, sellers have been able to meet the demand without pushing the price higher. ASTER has traded below $0.60 for weeks, and the buyback hasn’t changed that.

What’s next

The buyback program remains active, meaning Aster will keep buying tokens as long as fees come in. But without a shift in volume or money flow, the price may stay range-bound. The next real test will come if volume picks up — or if the program’s pace slows.
