Binance Founder CZ Pushes Dollar-Cost Averaging as Antidote to Market Timing

Changpeng Zhao, the co-founder of Binance, used a July 24 post on X to challenge the instinct to time crypto entries — and the message resonated. His question asking whether bull or bear markets offer better long-term entry points drew more than 1.8 million views in two days. The answer, he told his followers, lies in dollar-cost averaging, or DCA: investing a fixed amount at regular intervals, regardless of price.

Why CZ Changed His Tune on Stablecoins

Zhao admitted he once dismissed the stablecoin market as a sideshow. That was before it grew past $300 billion. The misjudgment, he said, taught him that predictable, recurring moves — like DCA — can outperform even well-researched lump-sum bets. Weak buy-and-hold returns among 2025 token listings made the point concrete: badly timed entries underperform, even when the asset eventually rises.

The Psychology Behind the Strategy

DCA's real edge may be psychological rather than mathematical. Regular automated purchases remove the temptation to wait for the perfect entry — a habit that often leads investors to buy high and sell low. CZ's post pushed back against the idea that anyone can consistently time the market. Instead, he framed DCA as the only reliable way to build wealth in a volatile asset class.

Traders Still Split on What Comes Next

Not everyone is sold on patience alone. Some traders point to early bottom signals as reason for optimism, arguing that the worst of the downturn may be over. Others stay cautious, noting how long the slide has dragged on. The disagreement leaves a gap between CZ's long-view advice and the short-term pressure to act.

For now, the question hanging over the market is whether dollar-cost averaging can really insulate investors from the next crash — or whether the strategy only works when the long-term trend is up. CZ's followers will be watching the next few months for clues.
