Binance Pay now supports QR code payments in seven countries, the company said this week. The move lets users spend crypto directly at physical stores and for cross-border transactions without converting to fiat first.
Where it works
Binance didn't name the seven markets. The feature is live for merchants that already accept Binance Pay, and the QR code option is meant to speed up checkout. Users scan a merchant's QR code with the Binance app, select a crypto asset, and confirm the payment.
How it streamlines payments
Previously, Binance Pay required a manual transfer or a peer-to-peer transaction. The QR code system cuts out extra steps — no need to copy wallet addresses or wait for confirmations on a separate screen. The company says it's designed for both in-store purchases and cross-border commerce, where traditional payment rails can be slow or expensive.
Crypto's use as a payment method has been limited by friction. QR codes are a familiar interface — millions of people already use them for WeChat Pay, Alipay, and other services. If Binance can get enough merchants on board, this could make crypto spending feel more like a normal transaction. The timing also lines up with a broader push by exchanges to show that digital assets have real-world utility beyond trading.
Binance hasn't disclosed which countries are included or whether more will be added. The company said it will share more details in the coming weeks.
