Binance Schedules Ethereum Maintenance, Delists ICX, SCRT and STORJ

Binance will suspend deposits and withdrawals on the Ethereum network today, August 27, for about an hour of wallet maintenance. The exchange said trading of tokens on the Ethereum network won't be affected during the pause. Separately, Binance is delisting ICON (ICX), Secret (SCRT) and Storj (STORJ) on September 3, removing all spot trading pairs.

Wallet maintenance on Ethereum

The maintenance window is expected to last roughly one hour. Deposits and withdrawals on the Ethereum network will be paused, but spot trading for tokens built on Ethereum will continue as normal. Binance didn't specify a reason beyond routine wallet upkeep. Users who need to move funds in or out during that window should plan around the downtime. The pause applies only to the Ethereum network; other chains aren't affected.

Three tokens delisted on September 3

Binance will remove all spot trading pairs for ICX, SCRT and STORJ on September 3. The delisting follows a review of each asset. The announcement hit SCRT hard: the token is down 25% in the past 24 hours. ICX and STORJ also saw declines, though the facts don't specify exact figures. After the delisting, users won't be able to trade these tokens on Binance's spot market. The exchange typically advises users to withdraw or convert holdings before the cutoff.

Why Binance prunes its listings

Binance regularly reviews listed assets against a set of criteria: team commitment, network stability, community engagement, trading volume and liquidity. Tokens that fall short on those fronts get cut. This isn't a one-off. In August, Binance delisted ACX, HFT, PIVX, PYR, VANRY and VIC. In June, it removed ALCX, ARDR, NFP and POND. Each time, the affected tokens saw similar price drops after the announcement. The pattern suggests the market treats delisting news as a negative signal, and the SCRT slide fits that trend.
