Bitcoin 4-Year Cycle Still Intact, Analyst Mags Says — Buy Phase Expected in 2027

Crypto analyst Mags is pushing back against the growing chorus that Bitcoin's four-year cycle has broken down. In a new analysis, Mags argues the cycle remains firmly in place, with the market currently transitioning from a bear phase into the next accumulation window — expected to begin in 2027. The take directly counters claims from Michael Saylor, CEO of Strategy, and other experts who say the old pattern no longer applies.

A four-stage pattern that keeps repeating

Mags' model breaks each four-year cycle into distinct one-year phases: Buy, Hold, Sell, and Bear. Looking at historical data — 2011-2014, 2015-2018, 2019-2022 — that sequence has held consistently. According to Mags, the 2023-2026 cycle followed the same script, with the Bear phase playing out through much of 2025. Now, in 2026, the analyst sees the market in a sideways grind, typical of the tail end of the bear period before the next upswing.

Saylor's counterargument

Not everyone agrees. Michael Saylor, the executive chairman of Strategy, has publicly stated that Bitcoin's four-year cycle is finished, citing institutional adoption and changing market dynamics. Other unnamed experts have echoed that sentiment, arguing that the old rhythm has been disrupted by spot ETFs, corporate treasuries, and broader mainstream acceptance. Mags acknowledges the disagreement but sticks to the historical pattern, noting that each cycle so far has played out in roughly the same cadence irrespective of macro changes.

The next accumulation window

Looking forward, Mags predicts the 2027-2030 cycle will follow the same four-stage structure. The next major accumulation phase — the Buy year — is slated for 2027. That would mean the current bearish conditions are a setup for the next run, not a permanent shift. The debate now is whether the model will hold for a fifth time or if the market has truly evolved beyond the old template.
