Bitcoin has been grinding sideways since early June, and chart watchers are now eyeing a potential breakout — or a deeper pullback. The leading cryptocurrency is currently testing resistance at the confluence of a descending channel top and the $64,360 horizontal level. A successful push above that zone could open the door to a run toward $76,000, according to a technical pattern that has been forming for weeks.
The pattern that matters
On the daily chart, an inverse head and shoulders pattern is taking shape. If it completes — meaning price breaks above the neckline — the measured move targets roughly $76,000. That would represent a gain of about 18% from current levels. But the pattern isn't confirmed yet. Bitcoin needs to clear that $64,360 resistance first, and short-term momentum indicators are already near their upper limits. That suggests a rejection could come before any breakout.
What happens if support fails
If the bull market trendline and horizontal support at $62,250 give way, the next stop could be $60,000. That would be a roughly 6% drop from current prices. The weekly chart shows Bitcoin still above the bull market trendline, but a slip below could send it to the bottom of the channel. Notably, a dip to $60,000 wouldn't necessarily kill the inverse head and shoulders pattern — the right shoulder could form lower, keeping the structure intact.
Weekly chart indecision
The weekly picture adds to the uncertainty. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is near a downtrend line, with a breakout or rejection pending. Meanwhile, the Stochastic RSI has straightened out and the earlier cross-down signal has disappeared. That points to indecision — traders are waiting for a catalyst. The sideways grind since June could be an accumulation phase, but the lack of direction is testing patience.
What to watch next
All eyes are on the $64,360 level in the coming sessions. A clean break above it, ideally on rising volume, would put the $76,000 target in play. A rejection, however, could see Bitcoin test $62,250 and then $60,000. The next few days should clarify whether the inverse head and shoulders pattern completes or fizzles.
