Bitcoin pushed to $67,000 on Tuesday morning — its highest price in over a month — but couldn't hold the level. The rally faded fast, with BTC dipping to $65,600 and then $65,300 before settling just under $66,000. The move came after a choppy week that saw the asset swing from $65,600 down to $62,500 and back up. Meanwhile, a token called BCAP skyrocketed 360% in 24 hours to $106 — but with zero trading volume and a market cap near $1 billion, the pump looks more like a glitch than a breakout.
Bitcoin's volatile week
It's been a wild few days for the largest cryptocurrency. Last week, favorable US CPI data sent Bitcoin to $65,600. Then it fell to $62,500 on Friday, rebounded to $64,000 over the weekend, and challenged $65,000 on Monday before retracing to $63,750. Tuesday's push to $67,000 was the strongest move yet, but the rejection at that level was sharp. Bitcoin's market capitalization stalled below $1.320 trillion, and its dominance over altcoins slipped to 56.5% on CoinGecko.
BCAP's phantom pump
Blockchain Capital's BCAP token posted a 360% gain in 24 hours, hitting $106. But the move came with zero trading volume — a red flag that suggests the price is being set by a thin order book or a data feed error. The token's market cap is now near $1 billion, a figure that doesn't reflect any actual buying or selling. It's a reminder that price action on low-liquidity tokens can be misleading.
Altcoins mostly green
WLFI led the proven altcoins, pumping over 11% to $0.063. STABEL followed, while HBAR and UNI were up around 4% each. Most other larger-cap altcoins marked gains of up to 2%, including XMR. On the downside, BCH, XLM, DC, and TRX were slightly in the red. The total cryptocurrency market cap remained sideways at just over $2.3 trillion on CoinGecko.
