Bitcoin traded below $83,000 on Monday, easing to around $83,100 after adding more than 4% last week. Ethereum slipped under $2,700, and XRP consolidated near $1.500 as the market handed back a slice of recent gains. The pullback is modest, but it parks Bitcoin directly under a familiar barrier: roughly $85,000, the level that has capped upside before.
The short-term ceiling at $85,000
That $85,000 zone is the immediate hurdle. Bitcoin spent Monday drifting below it rather than testing it, which tells you buyers aren't in a hurry to force a breakout. A clean push through would put the recent range behind it. A rejection keeps the coin chopping between last week's gains and the support shelf below.
None of this is panic. The move down from Monday's open is small next to the 4% climb that preceded it. Pullbacks after a run like that are normal — some traders take profit, others wait for a better entry. The question is whether the $85,000 level turns into a wall or just a pause.
Trend still points up
The bigger picture hasn't broken. Bitcoin remains above all three of its key exponential moving averages: the 50-day at $77,323, the 100-day at $73,931, and the 200-day at $74,253. Trading above those lines is the textbook definition of an uptrend, and Bitcoin is doing it on every timeframe that matters here.
That gap between price and the 50-day EMA is the cushion. Even if Bitcoin slides further this week, it would need to lose roughly $6,000 from Monday's level to threaten the nearest average. That's a long way down for a market that just posted a strong week.
Momentum is warm, not hot
The relative strength index sat near 61 on Monday. That's positive territory — buyers are in control — but it's below the 70 mark that usually flags an overbought market. In plain terms, Bitcoin has room to run before momentum becomes a warning sign.
The MACD has cooled off from its recent peak but remains slightly positive. That combination — RSI in the low 60s, MACD still above zero — describes a market that's taking a breather, not one that's rolling over. If momentum were deteriorating sharply, you'd expect the RSI to be sliding toward 50 and the MACD to be crossing negative. Neither is happening yet.
Support sits far below
The horizontal support levels that have mattered this cycle are $66,500 and $62,300. Those are the floors to watch if the current pullback deepens. For now they're distant — more than $15,000 below Monday's price — and there's no sign of a test.
Ethereum and XRP aren't offering much of a separate story. ETH below $2,700 and XRP flat around $1.500 both look like they're following Bitcoin's lead rather than driving it. When the majors move together on a quiet Monday, it's usually the same macro trade expressing itself across the board.
The next concrete test is whether Bitcoin can reclaim enough ground this week to challenge $85,000 again. A push through opens the door to a fresh leg higher. Another rejection keeps the market stuck in its current range, waiting for a catalyst that hasn't shown up yet.
