Bitdeer Technologies Group said Monday it will deploy roughly 1.93 exahash per second (EH/s) of bitcoin mining capacity into a co-mining arrangement with Soluna Holdings at a wind-powered data center in South Texas. The deal, announced August 25, gives Bitdeer's subsidiary Dory Creek the right to install company-owned mining equipment across a 28-megawatt facility.
What the co-mining setup looks like
Under the agreement, Dory Creek isn't just renting space. It will bring its own machines to the site, meaning Bitdeer keeps control of the hardware. The arrangement is described as co-mining, a model where the host supplies power and infrastructure while the miner contributes equipment and operates the rigs. The exact split of output or fees wasn't disclosed in the announcement.
The site runs on wind power. That's a detail worth noting: it's a renewable-powered facility in South Texas, a region known for its wind generation and cheap electricity. For a Bitcoin miner, securing a long-term power source that's both clean and cost-competitive can be half the battle.
Why Bitdeer is using its own rigs
Bitdeer has spent much of 2026 pushing to expand its self-mining arm, moving away from purely hosting other people's machines. This deal fits that pattern. Instead of selling capacity to a third party, Bitdeer is putting its own hardware to work. The 1.93 EH/s is a modest chunk next to the network's total hashrate, but for a company aiming to grow its own mining output, it's a concrete step.
Soluna, meanwhile, gets a customer for its wind-powered data center. The company has built a business around pairing renewable energy with digital infrastructure, and this co-mining deal locks in another revenue stream.
What's left to watch
Neither company said when the equipment will be installed or fully hashing. Given that the site is already operating and wind generation is intermittent, Bitdeer will likely need to manage power availability carefully. The next practical milestone would be when Dory Creek's rigs actually turn on and start mining.
