Crypto exchange Bitget is leaving the Japanese market and will forcibly close all remaining positions after December 31. The company told users to settle their accounts before the deadline or face automatic liquidation.
What users need to know
Bitget said it will stop serving customers in Japan entirely. Anyone with open trades, margin positions, or other active contracts must close them by the end of the year. After that date, the exchange will forcibly liquidate any remaining positions.
The company did not give a reason for the exit. Japanese regulators have been tightening rules on crypto trading platforms in recent years, but Bitget did not cite any specific order or investigation.
How to avoid forced liquidation
Users should log into their accounts and close all positions before December 31. Bitget warned that after the deadline, it will process forced closures automatically. The exchange said it will not be responsible for any losses resulting from the liquidation process.
It is unclear whether Bitget will allow withdrawals after the positions are closed. The company has not provided details on what happens to remaining funds after the forced closures.
