Two of the most prominent voices in crypto are on the same page: real adoption is quietly running ahead of what token prices show. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong both said this week that the gap between on-the-ground usage and market valuations is wider than most people realize.
What the CEOs are saying
Horsley and Armstrong made their views known in separate public remarks. Neither offered specific numbers, but both pointed to the same underlying trend — more developers, more institutional interest, more real-world applications than the current price action reflects. Armstrong noted that the industry's infrastructure has matured significantly, while Horsley emphasized that the disconnect between price and adoption is a recurring pattern in crypto's history.
The alignment between a major asset manager and a leading exchange CEO carries weight. Both firms have a direct line into where money is actually flowing. Bitwise manages crypto index funds; Coinbase processes billions in trading volume. If they're both seeing adoption outpace price, it suggests the current market may be undervaluing the sector's fundamentals.
Neither executive laid out a specific timeline for when prices might catch up. But the message is clear: the build phase isn't over — it's just not being fully priced in yet. For now, the industry's two biggest cheerleaders are betting that the numbers will eventually follow the usage.
