Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley has teased a new product built on top of Coinbase's newly launched tokenized stocks on Base. The tease arrived just days after Bitwise reported more than $1.8 billion in net inflows for the first half of the year — a signal the firm is ready to extend beyond its current lineup.
A tease days after the inflows report
Bitwise's $1.8 billion in net inflows covers January through June. Horsley's tease landed right after that number was out. The timing isn't a coincidence — the firm is coming off its best half of the year, and it's choosing now to hint at what's next.
Bitwise is a leading US crypto asset manager. That position gives it room to build new products, and the first-half inflow figure gives it a base to work from. But Horsley didn't name the product. No ticker, no launch date, no structure.
Coinbase's tokenized stocks on Base
Coinbase launched tokenized stocks on Base, its layer-2 network. That lets users hold on-chain versions of equities. The product Bitwise is teasing sits on top of that — a fund or service built around Coinbase's equity rails.
It's a notable crossover. Coinbase brings the exchange and the settlement layer; Bitwise brings the asset-management wrapper. That combination doesn't exist elsewhere at the same scale.
What's still unknown
Horsley didn't say whether the product is a fund, an index, or a separately managed account. He didn't give a name or a timeline. The lack of detail is deliberate — it's a tease, not an announcement.
What's clear is that Bitwise sees Coinbase's tokenized-stock platform on Base as worth building on. The firm has the inflows to back that bet. The next step is the product itself, and that hasn't been revealed yet.
