Home miners are the pitch
The residential category has been a growing focus for Canaan. These devices are designed to run quieter and plug into standard household power, which makes them a different proposition from the rack-mounted rigs that fill commercial data centers.
Exactly which models Canaan will bring to Hong Kong hasn't been laid out. But the company has pushed the idea that mining at home can work for a broader audience, not just operators with access to cheap electricity.
Why Hong Kong
Bitcoin Asia has grown into one of the region's bigger crypto gatherings. Hong Kong's regulatory posture on digital assets has softened over the past couple of years, and the city has been trying to position itself as a welcoming hub for the industry.
For Canaan, that makes the venue a practical place to talk to both buyers and business partners. The company's presence there also puts its hardware in front of a crowd that's already actively interested in Bitcoin, rather than a general tech audience.
A broader strategy
The timing matters. Bitcoin's price is well off its lows, and mining margins have shifted as network difficulty climbs. Canaan has been working to diversify its product line, and consumer hardware is part of that mix.
It's a crowded space, though. Bitmain and MicroBT dominate the top end of the market with their industrial machines, so the home segment is where smaller players can still carve out a niche. Canaan has pushed into that territory before, but this Hong Kong appearance suggests it's not backing away.
Bitcoin Asia 2026 is scheduled to run in Hong Kong this year, and Canaan says the devices on display will be available for purchase in the region. The company hasn't given a specific launch date for any new hardware, but the conference will be the first real look at what it's been working on.
