Canton Token Rallies 8% as Societe Generale Joins Network Validator

Canton (CC) token jumped nearly 8% on Thursday after Societe Generale signed on as an Ecosystem Super Validator for the Canton Network. The French banking giant's SG-FORGE unit plans to issue two MiCA-compliant stablecoins on the platform — EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) and USD CoinVertible (USDCV) — for institutional settlement, tokenized collateral, and on-chain repo financing.

Societe Generale's Stablecoin Plans

SG-FORGE intends to deploy both stablecoins under the supervision of France's ACPR and AMF regulators. The tokens will be restricted to non-US permitted transferees under Regulation S, targeting institutional clients rather than retail users. The move positions Canton as a settlement layer for regulated digital assets, with the stablecoins designed to support collateralized transactions and repo markets on-chain.

Technical Breakout and Price Targets

CC broke above its $0.15 accumulation zone on the news, snapping a descending trendline that had held since the token's February 3 all-time high of $0.194. The relative strength index (RSI) also broke its own descending trendline and has pushed into bullish territory. On the hourly chart, CC has traded within an ascending parallel channel since May 8 and is now pressing toward the upper band near $0.17.

The Bollinger Band Width Percentile (BBWP) shows volatility readings expanding toward extremes, signaling potential for a larger move. The next price target sits at the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement around $0.17254. A daily close above that level would open the door to the 0.786 retracement at $0.18273 and eventually the $0.194 record.

Key Support and Invalidation Levels

If buyers defend the $0.155 zone, the immediate upside target holds. But a daily close below $0.155 would invalidate the breakout thesis and likely send CC back to the $0.149 support range. The hourly RSI is near 80 with no bearish divergence, suggesting momentum remains strong for now. The 21Shares spot ETF had drawn institutional eyes to CC earlier this year, and Societe Generale's validator role adds another layer of credibility to the network's settlement ambitions.

Whether CC can hold above $0.155 in the coming sessions will determine if the rally extends toward the all-time high or stalls.
