Chelsea FC has named BingX as its official cryptocurrency partner, a deal that the club says is about brand exposure rather than launching a fan token or other blockchain-based assets. The partnership, announced this week, comes as the Premier League side continues to manage a portfolio of strategic player loans across Europe.
The deal
BingX, a Singapore-based crypto exchange, will get branding placement at Stamford Bridge and across Chelsea's digital channels. The agreement is structured as a traditional sponsorship, with no plans to mint a Chelsea-branded token or integrate crypto payments for merchandise or ticketing, according to people familiar with the arrangement.
Chelsea has been active in the loan market this summer, moving several first-team squad members to clubs in France, Italy, and Spain to manage squad size and comply with financial regulations. The club's commercial team has been seeking new revenue streams outside of player sales, and the BingX deal is one result of that push.
Why brand exposure, not tokens
The decision to avoid tokenization sets this partnership apart from several other European clubs that have launched fan tokens with platforms like Socios. Chelsea's approach appears more conservative: use the crypto sector's marketing budgets without exposing the fanbase to the volatility or regulatory scrutiny that often accompanies club-specific digital assets.
BingX, for its part, gets access to a global football audience. The exchange has been expanding its sports sponsorship portfolio, and the Chelsea deal gives it visibility in a key European market. Neither party disclosed financial terms.
The partnership is expected to run through the 2027 season, with options to extend. Chelsea's next steps in the crypto space remain unclear, but for now, the club is keeping its feet on the ground — no token, just a logo on a sleeve.
