What the rebase does
Bitcoin Knots is a fork of Bitcoin Core, the dominant software implementation. Guida's rebase updates the Knots codebase to incorporate recent changes while preserving a proof-of-work hard fork mechanism. That mechanism lets miners activate a chain split if they disagree with future protocol decisions — a fallback option that doesn't exist in Core.
The code itself isn't new. Guida has maintained this fork for a while. But the rebase brings it up to date with the latest Bitcoin Knots release, making it viable for miners to actually run. It's a technical signal: miners now have a ready-to-deploy alternative if they feel Core's development direction leaves them no choice.
