The U.S. Senate's Monday floor schedule does not include the CLARITY Act, the crypto market structure bill that had been expected to come up for a vote. Lawmakers have only five days left before they leave for the August recess, making it all but certain the legislation won't advance this month.
Five days left
The Senate is set to adjourn for its summer break at the end of this week. That leaves a narrow window for any floor action on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to establish a federal framework for digital asset regulation. Without a spot on Monday's schedule, the bill effectively has no path to a vote before the recess.
No vote scheduled
Neither the majority nor the minority leader has announced plans to bring the CLARITY Act to the floor. The bill cleared committee earlier this year but has since stalled. The timing isn't great for proponents who were hoping for momentum before the break.
What happens next
The August recess runs through Labor Day. When the Senate returns in September, the legislative calendar will be crowded with appropriations and other must-pass items. The CLARITY Act's supporters will need to find a new path forward — or wait for a floor vote that may not come until later in the fall.
