Coinbase introduced a new 'Launches' tab on Monday, giving users a way to find and trade tokens on Base and Solana the moment they go live onchain. The feature lives inside Coinbase's built-in decentralized exchange, the company announced via its official X account.
How the Launches tab works
The tab aggregates newly launched tokens from both networks, letting users trade them immediately without manually searching or bridging assets. Because the feature is integrated into Coinbase's DEX, users can swap directly from their Coinbase accounts. The company said the tab allows users to find and trade tokens on Base and Solana as soon as they go live onchain.
That means no more hunting through multiple platforms or waiting for listings on centralized exchanges. For traders who want early access, the Launches tab offers a single place to see what's new.
Why Base and Solana
Base is Coinbase's own Ethereum layer-2 network, so it's natural the company would prioritize it. Solana, a high-throughput blockchain, has a vibrant ecosystem with a steady stream of new tokens. By focusing on these two chains, Coinbase is betting that early-stage trading will draw more users to its DEX.
The move also signals that Coinbase sees onchain activity as a growing part of its business. The company has been expanding its decentralized offerings, and the Launches tab is the latest step in that direction.
