The crypto industry directly employs 34,000 people in the United States and is projected to contribute $55 billion to the economy this year, according to a new report released Thursday by the National Cryptocurrency Association and the Pragmatic Policy Group. The study, billed as the first economy-wide look at crypto's labor market, also found that the average crypto job pays $133,000 — more than double the national median wage of $64,000.
Where the jobs are
California, New York, and Texas account for 60% of all crypto jobs. California leads with 57,600, followed by New York at 53,800 and Texas at 26,500. The three states have long been tech and finance hubs, so the concentration isn't a surprise. But the report suggests that concentration could become a political issue as other states try to attract the industry.
