Cryptocurrency is barely on the radar for American voters. According to a new POLITICO poll, only 4% of US adults consider digital assets a key factor when deciding whom to vote for. Among a dozen policy issues, crypto ranked dead last in importance — behind climate change, immigration, health care, and even the federal budget deficit.
The numbers
The survey asked respondents to rate how much each issue would influence their choice at the ballot box. Cryptocurrency received the lowest share of “very important” responses. No other policy area polled below 10%. The finding underscores a persistent gap between the noise in crypto circles and the priorities of the broader electorate.
For an industry that has spent heavily on political lobbying and PACs — and that frequently frames its regulatory battles as existential — the poll suggests outreach to the general public has a long way to go. Lawmakers who champion pro-crypto positions may find the issue carries little weight with constituents compared to kitchen-table concerns like inflation or jobs.
