Crypto Sidesteps Top FIFA Sponsorship but Floods World Cup 2026 via National Deals, Prediction Markets

The 2026 World Cup doesn't have a single crypto company among FIFA's seven global partners or eight official sponsors. But look past that top tier and the tournament is saturated with crypto money: national federation deals, fan tokens, prediction markets, and FIFA's own blockchain experiments are all in play. Argentina's AFA alone has signed at least six crypto or fintech regional sponsors since September 2025, including LBank, Nexo, and Ant International.

National team deals drive crypto exposure

Argentina's federation has been the most aggressive. LBank locked in a multi-year partnership last September and later launched a $100 million prize pool tied to the Argentine National Team. Nexo came on in April 2026 as a regional digital asset partner. Ant International signed on as Asia sponsor in March. Others include BTCC, ATFX, and Deepcoin, which is running a 'Champion Glory' campaign. Socios.com remains the exclusive issuer of the $ARG fan token and holds official partnerships with several qualified national teams.

Prediction market gets FIFA's first-ever nod

FIFA selected ADI Predictstreet as the Official Prediction Market Partner for the 2026 World Cup — the first time the organization has granted that category globally. The platform is deployed on ADI Chain, a blockchain. Polymarket and Kalshi, meanwhile, continue operating without FIFA rights. Their World Cup winner contracts are gaining traction anyway, a sign that unlicensed sports prediction markets aren't waiting for permission.

Promotions everywhere — and a FIFA coin concept

Crypto platforms are running World Cup-themed giveaways and campaigns. Nexo is giving away tickets and jerseys. Deepcoin has its 'Champion Glory' push. Crypto.com is running a Visa Card promotion. The TRUMP Coin ecosystem is offering VIP experiences. Separately, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has floated the idea of a 'FIFA Coin' or 'FIFA Token' on multiple occasions. The organization already announced development of its own dedicated blockchain network on Avalanche in May 2025 — a custom Layer-1 for digital collectibles and fan engagement. FIFA Collect has migrated to the new chain.

What's unresolved is whether FIFA will eventually sell a top-tier sponsorship slot to a crypto firm, or whether the decentralized, federation-by-federation approach is the new normal. For now, the tournament's crypto footprint is everywhere except the official partner list.
