David Schwartz, Ripple's chief technology officer, says he regrets selling XRP at $0.10 and 40,000 ETH at roughly $1.05 each — decisions he made under a risk-reduction agreement with his wife, not because he lost faith in the assets. His comments come as XRP has reclaimed the $1.10 resistance level, trading around $1.12, up 1% in the past 24 hours. Spot trading volume surged during the move above $1.10, and XRP exchange-traded products attracted nearly $40 million in fresh inflows, bringing assets under management to about $2.6 billion.
Why Schwartz sold — and why he regrets it
Schwartz said the sale was part of a personal risk-management pact with his wife, not a bearish bet on either token. But the timing stings. He noted that assigning even a 1% chance of Ethereum reaching $2,368 would have been enough to keep him from selling at $1.05. “I should have given it a higher probability,” he said, reflecting on the sale that now looks painfully early. XRP, meanwhile, was sold at $0.10, a fraction of its current price above $1.
XRP price action: reclaiming $1.10
The move past $1.10 wasn't just a small bounce. Daily RSI is near oversold territory, and a TD Sequential buy signal on the three-day chart suggests bearish momentum may be fading. Three price scenarios are now in play. A bullish case: XRP holds $1.12 as support and targets $1.18, $1.20, and finally $1.30–$1.35. A base case: consolidation between $1.10 and $1.18. A bearish case: a close below $1.10 sends XRP to the $1.04–$1.08 support zone. For now, the volume spike and ETP inflows point to larger players re-entering.
