Deepstate DEX to Launch on Robinhood Chain Next Week

Deepstate, an order-book-based decentralized exchange, is set to go live on Robinhood Chain next week. The launch, led by former SushiSwap chief technology officer Joseph DeLong, positions the DEX to tap into the network's $3.1 billion in first-week trading volume — a figure the team is targeting despite incomplete details on how that volume was generated.

Why Robinhood Chain?

Robinhood Chain, the blockchain underpinning the trading app's crypto and stock tokenization push, has drawn developers with its promise of low fees and institutional-grade liquidity. Deepstate's order-book model — a departure from the automated market maker design used by many DEXs — could appeal to traders who want limit orders and tighter spreads. The $3.1 billion volume figure, while still lacking full context, signals early demand that Deepstate hopes to capture.

DeLong's Return to DeFi

Joseph DeLong, who previously served as CTO at SushiSwap, is steering Deepstate's technical rollout. His tenure at SushiSwap included work on the platform's v3 upgrade and cross-chain bridges. DeLong left SushiSwap in late 2023 and has kept a low profile since. Now he's betting that an order book DEX on a relatively new chain can carve out market share from established players like Uniswap and PancakeSwap.

Order Books vs. AMMs

Most decentralized exchanges use automated market makers — pools of tokens that price assets algorithmically. An order book DEX functions more like a traditional exchange, matching buy and sell orders directly. That can mean better price execution for active traders but requires more liquidity to function smoothly. Deepstate will rely on market makers and retail users to supply that liquidity from day one.

The launch is scheduled for next week, though the team has not announced a specific date or time. Users will be able to trade a yet-unspecified set of token pairs. The bigger question is whether Deepstate can sustain momentum after the initial volume rush — and whether Robinhood Chain can handle the traffic. The blockchain has faced intermittent congestion during earlier token launches. Deepstate's performance in its first 48 hours will likely determine whether DeLong's bet pays off.
