April 2024 has been the worst month for decentralized finance in four years, according to Ronghui Gu, CEO of blockchain security firm CertiK. Exploits hit DeFi protocols on 27 out of 30 days — meaning only three days passed without a reported attack. That's a 90% attack rate.
A relentless pace of attacks
The near-daily incidents represent a sharp escalation. Gu stated that the frequency of exploits in April outstripped any month since at least 2020. Attackers didn't limit themselves to weekdays; breaches were reported on weekends and holidays alike. The data, collected by CertiK's monitoring systems, shows a sustained onslaught
