Doppler Finance Expands to Base, Bringing Wrapped XRP Lending Infrastructure

Doppler Finance is expanding to Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network built by Coinbase, bringing new financial infrastructure for Coinbase Wrapped XRP (cXRP). The move is backed by more than $113 million in XRP reserves and is part of a phased deployment intended to expand lending and collateral opportunities. The initiative positions tokenized assets for wider institutional use.

Why Base

Base, launched by Coinbase in 2023, has quickly become a hub for decentralized finance activity. By deploying on Base, Doppler Finance gains access to a growing ecosystem of developers and users while leveraging the network's low fees and fast transaction times. The choice also aligns with Coinbase's broader strategy to bring traditional finance onto blockchain rails.

The $113M Backing

Coinbase Wrapped XRP is a tokenized version of XRP, each unit fully backed by XRP held in reserve. The $113 million in reserves provides a strong foundation for lending and borrowing markets. Doppler Finance's expansion will allow users to supply cXRP as collateral or borrow against it, deepening liquidity for the asset.

Phased Rollout

The deployment is happening in stages. Initially, Doppler Finance will enable basic lending and borrowing pairs involving cXRP. Later phases are expected to introduce more complex financial products, such as leveraged positions and yield strategies. The company has not disclosed a timeline for each phase.

Institutional Focus

The expansion targets institutional users who require reliable, regulated infrastructure for tokenized assets. By integrating with Base, Doppler Finance aims to offer the compliance and security that large financial players demand. This could accelerate adoption of wrapped XRP among funds, treasuries, and other institutional participants.

The deployment is underway, with no specific completion date announced yet. The question remains how quickly institutions will adopt cXRP on Base and whether other tokenized assets will follow.
