San Salvador's BINAES library, donated by the Chinese government, now features libertarian economic works and family amenities alongside its Bitcoin displays. The 7-story public space added books by Mises, Friedman, Rothbard, and Ayn Rand while expanding play areas for children. It remains open 24/7 with free access, responding to previous criticism about its limited collection.
Bitcoin Bookshelf and Live Data Lounge
Alejandra Guajardo, known as Miss Bitcoin, curated the 6th floor's Bitcoin-shaped bookshelf. The library lounge streams real-time Bitcoin network activity through Mempool.space. These crypto features operate around the clock as part of the donation.
Libertarian Works With Gaps
The new section includes titles from key libertarian thinkers but lacks depth. Rand's novels are missing despite adding her non-fiction. Critics had called out this absence before the expansion. The limited selection shows progress without satisfying all demands.
Family-Focused Spaces Take Shape
Children's playgrounds, LEGO sections, and genre zones like Star Wars and Harry Potter now occupy multiple floors. The library actively blends crypto themes with family amenities. It's clearly aiming to draw broader crowds beyond crypto enthusiasts.
Book donations to grow the collection can be submitted to [email protected]. The library plans to keep building its offerings with community contributions.
