Eole First Japanese Public Company to Buy Hyperliquid's HYPE Token

Eole, a Tokyo-listed company, has become the first Japanese public firm to disclose a purchase of Hyperliquid's HYPE token. The company is targeting a $611,000 stake in the token, adding it beside bitcoin as part of what it calls a 'neo crypto bank' strategy. The move signals that Japan's corporate crypto market is moving beyond bitcoin and ether.

The HYPE purchase

Eole's decision to buy HYPE marks a notable expansion of its digital-asset holdings. The company, which already holds bitcoin, is now diversifying into a token from Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange and layer-1 blockchain. The $611,000 target is small by institutional standards, but the symbolic weight is larger: it's the first time a Japanese public company has publicly bought HYPE.

Beyond bitcoin and ether

For years, Japanese corporate crypto treasuries were almost entirely bitcoin and, to a lesser extent, ether. Eole's HYPE purchase suggests that companies are now willing to look at newer tokens. The 'neo crypto bank' label implies Eole sees itself as more than a passive holder — it wants to offer services around these assets. That could mean staking, lending, or payment products down the line.

Contrast with Quantum Solutions

Not every Japanese firm is buying. Quantum Solutions, another listed company, sold ether to fund its AI infrastructure business. That's a different play: cash out of crypto to invest in compute hardware. The two moves together show a split in corporate strategy. Some see tokens as long-term stores of value; others see them as a funding source for the next tech cycle.

Eole's bet on HYPE is a small one, but it's a clear signal. If the 'neo crypto bank' plan works, other Japanese firms may follow. If it doesn't, this will be a footnote. Either way, the corporate crypto market in Japan is no longer a two-token game.
