Estonia Partially Suspends Zondacrypto License, Gives 30-Day Fix-or-Lose Deadline

Estonia’s Financial Intelligence Unit has partially suspended the license of BB Trade Estonia OÜ, the company behind the Zondacrypto exchange. The firm now has 30 days to address the compliance gaps or face a full revocation.

Partial suspension in effect

The FIU didn't pull the license entirely — it's a partial suspension. That means Zondacrypto can keep running some operations, but under tighter scrutiny. The regulator hasn’t said exactly which services are affected, but the move is a clear warning: fix the problems or lose the right to operate in Estonia.

The 30-day ultimatum

BB Trade has a month to show it's cleaned up its compliance act. If it doesn't, the FIU can revoke the license outright. That would shut down Zondacrypto’s Estonian entity — a serious blow for an exchange that’s been trying to build a regulated presence in the Baltics.

Compliance concerns

The FIU cited compliance shortcomings, though it hasn't published the specifics. Money-laundering prevention, customer due diligence, internal controls — any of those could be the issue. Estonia’s crypto licensing regime has gotten tougher in recent years, and this isn’t the first time a local exchange has been put on notice.

The clock started ticking on the date of the FIU’s order. By mid-June, BB Trade will need to show concrete progress — or Zondacrypto’s Estonian license could be gone for good.
