Ethereum ETFs Snap 7-Day Inflow Streak With $2.81M Outflow

US spot Ethereum ETFs bled $2.81 million on September 29, ending a seven-day inflow streak that had pulled roughly $850.8 million into the products. Bitcoin funds went the other way entirely, taking in $66.19 million the same day and stretching their own inflow run to nine straight sessions.

The split matters because both asset classes have been leaning on ETF flows as a demand signal all month. Ethereum's streak started September 18 and peaked five days later, when the funds logged $269.98 million in a single session. By September 28 that daily figure had cooled to $17.1 million. The reversal on Tuesday was orderly, not panicked.

Where the money moved

BlackRock's ETHA carried the heaviest load, recording the largest outflow of the day at $8.94 million. Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust ran the opposite way, adding $12.83 million. Those two lines do most of the work in a small net number — this wasn't a broad retreat, it was a handful of desks repositioning.

The streak that just broke wasn't a fluke either. Ethereum ETFs added $689.88 million in the week ending September 25, their biggest week since late August. Over the past 30 days the products have hauled in $979.69 million. The funds now hold $17.79 billion in net assets, equal to 5.45% of Ethereum's market cap. That's real, sticky capital, not hot money chasing a weekly print.

This week opened with $14.29 million in net inflows for Ethereum ETFs, a fraction of the prior week's pace. Two days doesn't make a trend, but the slowdown is visible.

What broke the run in mid-September

Context worth keeping: the last time Ethereum ETFs had a rough patch, between September 15 and 17, they shed about $404.8 million across three sessions. BeInCrypto tied that stretch to the Clarity Act stalling in the Senate. Whether Tuesday's outflow belongs in the same category is unclear — there's no matching legislative headline attached to it.

Price action doesn't explain much either. ETH traded at $2,673.54 at press time, down 3.32% over seven days but up 0.41% in the last 24 hours. BTC fell 3.78% on the week to $83,359, yet its ETFs gathered roughly $3.08 billion across the nine-session streak. Bitcoin's funds are absorbing the drawdown; Ethereum's took a breather.

The week ahead

The obvious question is whether Tuesday was a one-day blip or the start of a rotation. Ethereum's 30-day and weekly numbers are still lopsidedly positive, and a $2.81 million net outflow is rounding error against $689.88 million in five days. But the daily prints have been shrinking for a week, and now the streak is gone.

Watch the next few sessions. If Bitcoin ETFs keep stacking while Ethereum's stay flat, the flows are telling you something about where allocators want to sit heading into October. If ETHA and the Mini Trust flip back to net positives by Friday, Tuesday was noise. Either way, the streak is over — and the funds open the week a long way off the pace they set in September.
