E*TRADE Completes Spot Crypto Rollout for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana; Morgan Stanley Plans Two New ETFs

Morgan Stanley's brokerage E*TRADE has finished rolling out spot trading for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana to all eligible clients. The move follows an initial pilot earlier in 2025. Separately, Morgan Stanley is planning to launch two new crypto ETFs imminently, according to the firm.

The rollout

E*TRADE started testing spot crypto trading with a small group of users earlier last year. That pilot has now expanded to the full customer base. The three assets — Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana — are available for direct purchase and sale on the platform. No other cryptocurrencies have been added yet.

Morgan Stanley manages roughly $10 trillion in assets. That makes it one of the largest traditional financial institutions to offer spot crypto trading directly to retail clients. The full rollout signals that the firm sees enough demand — and regulatory clarity — to go beyond futures-based products.

The ETF plans

Morgan Stanley is also preparing two new crypto ETFs, though it hasn't disclosed the specific assets or structures. The funds are expected to launch soon. The firm already offers some crypto exposure through other products, but these would be its first proprietary ETFs in the space.

Morgan Stanley said the ETFs are coming imminently, though it didn't specify a timeline. The spot trading rollout is complete, so attention now shifts to the ETF filings. Competitors like Fidelity and BlackRock have already launched similar products, so Morgan Stanley is playing catch-up in a crowded market.
