Ferrari Tokenized Shares Go Live on Solana via Sunrise

Ferrari shares are now trading as tokenized assets on the Solana blockchain, courtesy of a new offering from Sunrise. The move marks one of the first times a major automotive brand's equity has been made available in token form on a high-throughput chain.

Tokenized shares aim to make equity trading more liquid and accessible to investors worldwide, according to the details released with the launch.

What Sunrise is actually offering

Sunrise has tokenized Ferrari shares and put them on Solana. That means investors can buy and sell tokenized representations of Ferrari stock on-chain. The company hasn't said how many shares are in the initial pool or what the minimum investment is, but the pitch is straightforward: traditional equity, blockchain rails.

Ferrari, for its part, isn't issuing these tokens. Sunrise is wrapping existing shares. The carmaker hasn't commented on the arrangement.

Why Solana, and why Ferrari

Solana's low fees and fast settlement make it a logical home for tokenized equities, which need to handle frequent, small trades without eating into returns. Sunrise picked Ferrari because it's a globally recognized brand with a shareholder base that's already used to a bit of exclusivity.

The tokenization wave has mostly targeted private credit and treasuries so far. Putting a luxury automaker's stock on-chain is a different bet — one that tests whether crypto investors actually want exposure to a traditional car company, and whether traditional investors want the hassle of a wallet.

The liquidity question

Enhancing liquidity is the stated goal. But tokenized equities only get liquid if market makers show up and if the underlying shares are actually available to trade. Sunrise hasn't shared details on its market-making partners or custody arrangements, which are the two things that usually determine whether a tokenized asset trades at a premium or a discount to its real-world price.

Accessibility is the other selling point. Anyone with a Solana wallet can potentially buy in, no brokerage account required. That's a genuine change for investors in markets where buying US or European equities is expensive or restricted.

What to watch

The next concrete step is volume. If Ferrari tokens start changing hands in meaningful size, other issuers will follow. If they sit idle, it's a proof of concept that never left the lab. Sunrise hasn't given a timeline for adding more stocks.

For now, the Ferrari token is live on Solana. Whether it becomes a template or a novelty depends on the numbers that come next — and there aren't any yet.
