Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz expects Bitcoin to trade between $60,000 and $80,000 for the rest of 2026. But he also laid out a three-part scenario that could push the cryptocurrency to new highs — a 'perfect storm' of rate cuts, regulatory clarity, and renewed retail enthusiasm.
The consolidation forecast
Novogratz said Bitcoin will likely stay in that $60,000-to-$80,000 band through year-end. That's a wide range, but it suggests he doesn't see a major breakout or breakdown in the near term. The prediction comes as Bitcoin has been volatile this year, swinging between support and resistance levels without a clear direction.
The three triggers for a breakout
According to Novogratz, a rally to new all-time highs would need three things to line up. First, interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve — lower rates tend to push money into risk assets like crypto. Second, clearer regulatory rules in the U.S., something the industry has been waiting on for years. Third, a return of retail investors, who have been largely absent from recent price action.
If all three happen at once, Novogratz argued, the market could see a sharp move higher. He didn't put a timeline on that perfect storm, but the ingredients are starting to come together. The Fed has signaled possible cuts later this year, and several regulatory bills are moving through Congress. Retail interest, however, remains tepid.
For now, the message is patience. Bitcoin holders may have to wait through months of sideways trading before the next leg up — if the catalysts arrive.
