Gate DexBuilder, the decentralized exchange infrastructure arm of Gate, rolled out its first Event Contracts Builder on August 7, 2026. Alongside the launch, it unveiled a $3 million grant program aimed at accelerating the ecosystem around event contracts — a market type that's been growing quietly in crypto but still lacks open tooling.
What the builder actually does
The Event Contracts Builder is a modular stack that covers the full lifecycle of an event market: creation, trading, liquidity support, settlement, and operational management. It's designed to plug into existing products via API and SDK integration, offering market data, order and position management, settlement, risk controls, an operations dashboard, and multi-terminal integration.
That means brokers, trading platforms, crypto wallets, Web3 apps, media, community platforms, AI trading systems, AI agents, quant shops, and sports/esports/entertainment products can all integrate event contract functionality without building from scratch. Or they can spin up their own independently operated branded markets on Gate DexBuilder.
The $3 million grant pool
Selected projects can receive up to $3 million in funding, plus ecosystem support covering product development, technical integration, liquidity building, market launch, and user growth. The grant isn't just cash — outstanding builders also get technical support, official showcases, community exposure, joint AMAs, media promotion, and ecosystem partnerships.
Projects at ideation, MVP, testing, or live stage are all eligible to apply. That's a wide net, and it's deliberate.
Why now
Event contracts — markets on things like crypto price moves, sports outcomes, esports results, macroeconomic data, AI milestones, and industry events — have been a niche but sticky use case. Jason Fung, Head of Gate DexBuilder and Head of Global Partnerships, emphasized the need for broader application scenarios and open infrastructure support for these markets. In other words, the sector has been hampered by closed, single-purpose platforms. Gate is betting that opening up the rails will pull in builders who wouldn't otherwise touch the space.
Gate's wider push
Gate was founded in 2013 by Dr. Han and now serves over 58 million users globally, supporting 4,900+ digital assets and 12,500+ stock assets. The ecosystem already includes Gate Wallet, Gate Ventures, and Gate for AI Agent. The Event Contracts Builder is another piece of that stack, aimed at making event markets as easy to deploy as a standard trading pair.
The application window is open now, and projects can apply for both the builder access and the grant. What's less clear is how Gate will vet applicants and how quickly the first batch of integrated markets goes live — but the tooling is out there, and the money is on the table.
