Gemini and Apex Fintech Solutions have signed a letter of intent to work together on regulated crypto prediction markets. The announcement, made Monday, is an effort to get more retail traders into markets that are already under CFTC supervision.
The deal in plain terms
The two companies plan to combine Apex's brokerage technology with Gemini's federally regulated trading and clearing operations. That means Apex's network of brokerages could eventually offer these products without building their own rails, while Gemini provides the regulated exchange underneath. The letter of intent isn't a final agreement, but it sets the direction for a partnership that could expand who gets to trade these markets.
Why the CFTC matters here
Prediction markets that touch crypto sit under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's purview. That's a big part of what makes this pairing notable. Gemini already operates as a regulated exchange and clearinghouse, so it has the compliance machinery in place. Apex brings distribution. The bet is that giving more brokers a compliant path to these products is good business — and also keeps regulators comfortable.
What's left to work out
Neither side has disclosed financial terms or a timeline for a final deal. What's known is the intent: to open up a market that's still early. Whether the two firms can turn a signed letter into working infrastructure is the next question, and there's no date on the calendar for that answer.
