GhostSwap Launches One-Step ZEC-to-XMR Swaps, No KYC Required

GhostSwap, a non-custodial swap platform registered as a Delaware LLC, has added direct Zcash-to-Monero swaps. The feature lets users exchange ZEC for XMR in a single step without creating an account or submitting KYC. GhostSwap says it has already processed over $750 million in total swaps for roughly 1.5 million users.

How the swap works

Users select ZEC as source and XMR as destination, enter an XMR address (and optionally a refund address), then send ZEC to a temporary deposit address. After confirmations on both chains, XMR arrives at the user's address. The whole process typically takes 5 to 30 minutes.

Privacy coins under pressure

Zcash and Monero are the two largest privacy coins by market cap, but they take different approaches. Zcash offers optional privacy via zk-SNARKs and shielded addresses; Monero enforces privacy by default using ring signatures, stealth addresses, and RingCT. Both have faced increasing regulatory scrutiny and exchange delistings, which has pushed traders to rotate between the two assets.

GhostSwap's model

GhostSwap charges a flat 2% fee built into the exchange rate, plus standard blockchain network fees for ZEC and XMR. The platform is non-custodial — it never holds user funds. That design, combined with the lack of KYC, makes it a direct alternative to centralized exchanges that have delisted privacy coins.

GhostSwap's addition of ZEC-XMR swaps fills a gap for users who want to move between the two largest privacy coins without relying on a centralized intermediary. The platform hasn't announced its next trading pair, but the infrastructure — Halo 2 proving system, Pallas-based keys, unified addresses — is in place for further expansion.
