Grayscale has withdrawn its ETF registration applications for ADA, HBAR, and DOT, pulling the company out of the race to list exchange-traded funds tied to those digital assets.
The applications had been pending with regulators. With the withdrawal, any plans for Grayscale-branded ETFs for these cryptocurrencies are now off the table.
Why the withdrawal matters
An ETF tracks the price of an underlying asset and trades on stock exchanges. For crypto investors, an ETF offers a way to gain exposure without holding the digital asset directly. Grayscale's move removes three potential crypto ETFs from the market pipeline.
The company did not give a reason for the decision. It also hasn't indicated whether it will refile later or shift focus to other products.
Scope of the change
The withdrawal affects only ADA, HBAR, and DOT. Grayscale's other ETF initiatives are not impacted by this action. Investors interested in those three assets will need to find alternative investment vehicles.
